Water, Water everywhere, Not a drop to drink

Not far from the bright lights of Siem Reap’s hotels, pubs and temples, the floating villages of Chong Khneas -- a mere 12 kilometres south -- live without sanitation or piped water supply.

Every so often, children here die of dysentery. Much of the population lives under the poverty line. Motorbike taxi driver Sitha ekes out a living from riding and fishing in the murky waters, but he dreams that his three children and others in the village can go on to better lives. He has built a small school in his home for village children who can’t afford to go to school otherwise. His son, Vibol, 12, is the only teacher.
